Dear Omicron Beta Sisters,
The Centennial Committee is happy to announce our updated plans for the Centennial of Omicron Beta of Chi Omega! Because of Covid 19 we have had to be creative and flexible in order to plan a celebration for both the Chapter and our 1,600-plus alumnae. Therefore, we will soon launch a year-long celebration of our 100 years on campus.
The Chapter will launch the year-long event April 10, 2021 with a Chapter-only in person event, which will be available online for alums to watch and cheer. President Katherine Rowe will speak, as well as one of our national officers. We hope to have all the members assemble at the Alumni House, but will have to observe the College’s (and the Commonwealth’s) size limits at that time. We will also officially launch our fund-raising effort then.
At Homecoming in October we will march as a unit of alumni in the parade on Friday afternoon and follow that with an informal get-together Friday evening and a tailgate on Saturday. This will be a great chance for alums from various classes to meet and greet, and make new friends.
Our Centennial Weekend has been rescheduled to April 29-May 1, 2022. We will celebrate the end of our special year with a White Carnation Banquet at the Alumni House on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Save the date! We hope to have raised the entire $1.5 million for renovating the House by then.
As one of our 1,600 living Alumnae, we encourage you to reach out and reply to this email if you would like to be involved in any capacity. Like Chi Omega's FaceBook page, become a member of our 100th Anniversary Group, and follow our Instagram. Be on the lookout for more updates via email and here on our event! We look forward to reuniting with our dearest friends from college, forming new bonds with Sisters from the classes before and after our own, and getting to know our Actives. We will also be posting historical information and photographs all year, so don’t miss that either.
We look forward to seeing many Sisters over the next year and invite all of you to join us as often as you can – both online and in person! Please stay safe until we can all meet together in April 2022!
